TTC Series 1: Diving into the world of trying to get pregnant
May 19, 2025If you were following along on my IG stories earlier this month, you know that we’re "officially-ish" TTC (this means trying to conceive if you're new to the terminology like I was recently)
I want to go ahead and add a caveat now that we only tried one time in April... and Matt said that he doesn't even consider it "trying", plus I didn't do any of the crazy stuff I plan to implement because YOLO (like using Pre-Seed and propping my hips up on a pillow for 15 minutes afterwards)
Plus May may get a little wonky with Matt's travel so as we speak, I'm holding my breath and hoping that I don't ovulate before he gets back (literally, who knew that these were the problems I'd face in my 30s lol after years of avoiding pregnancy)
All that said... after talking to my husband, he asked me to not share the total play-by-play SO publicly on IG out of respect for his privacy, plus out of concern for the fact that I have no idea what is about to happen and it could be an emotional and bumpy ride - but I do want to share some of the emotional pieces here in this new blog series.
I know that I'm not alone in the omg-what-the-heck-is-this-experience. I never appreciate how many new questions would appear in my brain the minute I started thinking "okay I'm ready for a baby"... it's kinda overwhelming.
And you start looking at your body in a whole new light. Instead of thinking about body composition, I'm thinking about the health of my uterine lining and if my blood sugar balance is going to interfere with my LH levels.
I also place SO much more value on my cycle as a sign of health and vitality and understand EVEN more about the importance of eating enough to keep our hormonal health in line.
While I know that there are different factors for all women - I’ve learned so much about the power of nutrition and simple lifestyle change to improve fertility and it’s so cool to me how we can influence that part of the journey.
To start: I'm sharing a few of the products that have been my lifeline.
Because (if you’re one of my clients you know) I am a data junkie!
- I got the Oura ring a year ago completely unrelated to TTC - but it’s been so freaking helpful for tracking my basal body temperature since getting off my birth control in December 2024 and helping ensure my ovulation is happening - which basically means that my hormones are working as they should! SAVE 10%
- I connected my Oura ring to Natural Cycles and it’s incredible. I haven’t used other apps, but I love how it predicts my ovulation and period and honestly it’s been highly accurate for me. There’s a setting for “not trying to get pregnant just tracking my cycle” and also for “trying to get pregnant” and since I just recently switched into the latter, it’s cool to see how the language changes so it fits your season. SAVE 20%
- I’ve also been testing with ovulation strips to try and see if the algorithm on NC is correct (also when you share your test results with NC, it improves their personalization with you which I appreciate!!). I BOUGHT THESE ONES
- Finally, I started taking a prenatal a couple months back. While I’m terrible at remembering to take it daily - I recently got some blood work done and my Vitamin D levels have improved (this is something that is in the prenatal) so I know that it’s doing something!! I chose to use Needed based on my research and recommendations I read!! They're usually running a 25% off sale
Send me a DM if you have any thoughts to share. Are you TTC too? What products do you swear by? In my next blog, I'll share a few books I've been loving and dig into the emotional rollercoaster of it all too.
