Whatβs to blame for weight loss feeling SO complicated every time?
DONβT KILL THE MESSENGERβ¦
but itβs your all-or-nothing approach!
When it comes to your nutrition, you value doing whatβs PRACTICAL and make decisions that are the βcorrectβ decisions to make ... because you deeply feel that thereβs a right way and a wrong way when it comes to eating healthy.
You are someone who is probably deeply admired for you can cut through the gray and so clearly see a black and white answer most of the time (BTW the rest of us are #jealous)
Other people may be willing to ignore what their body is telling them, but not you.
You NOTICE how decisions feel in your body, and you value going with your instincts so you can stay focused on living the right wayβ¦
Although sometimes this need to βdo things the right wayβ causes you to say no to something that could actually help you make more progress in the long run (like a diet you can actually stick to) - or causes you to reject something that doesnβt have black and white rules (like a diet that allows for life flexibility)
You have a natural ability to GIVE OTHERS A SENSE OF CALM because of your ability to see a clear way of doing things and your willingness to prioritize balance when it comes to problem-solving
You understand that your natural instincts are the most POWERFUL tool in your arsenal
β¬οΈ This is truly a gift!
That said⦠because you act with such natural instincts, you often forget to consider your thoughts, your emotions, and your needs before reacting
This leads you to suffocate yourself with rigidity when it comes to making decisions around food - or your constant fight for rightness gets so exhausting that you actually do the opposite by βletting yourself be freeβ and descending into indulgence.
How many times have you reached for the ice cream in the freezer and thought to yourself βI deserve thisβ?
Your own gift of going with your innate sense of right versus wrong can be your worst enemy, causing you to sabotage your goals, instead of helping you stay the course
Learning to use your desire for balance as a way to give yourself leeway to be human, instead of letting a desire for perfection run the show, is the very thing you need to get the weight loss youβve been desperate to achieve.
Letβs break it downβ¦
Your homework to start combating your tendency as an all-or-nothing thinker:
Next time you go out to eat with friends:
notice your instincts to choose something βbased on the rulesβ (or keeping the peace!) and challenge that first thought
Instead of acting fast - pause first (even if itβs uncomfortable!!)...
Consider if that choice will help you keep your momentum with your current health goals - or if going with your gut may have taken you off track
If you thought βI already broke the rules this week, who caresβ... what if you cared anyway?
If you thought βwhatever, if everyone wants pizza, Iβll just say okayβ... what if you spoke up and asked to grab something healthier instead?
Itβs normal to want to βjust goβ- instead of taking the time to think, but the more you think about what you really want now, the easier it will be to automate that action in the future, once you prove to yourself that itβs getting you results

Hereβs what my clients would tell you:
Hi I'm Coach Julia!!
Ever felt like you're crushing it in every area of your life... except when it comes to food and your body? That was totally me after COVID hit.
There I was in 2020, about 10 pounds heavier after lockdown, freshly single, and desperately wanting to feel good in my jeans again.
Iβd been gaining and losing the same 20 lbs since high school, and I was convinced that thin people were either lucky - or led incredibly boring lives and had nothing better to do than meal prep and workout twice a day.
It seemed any diet or program I tried was SO complicated & required that I turn my life upside (and give up basically everything that I enjoyed!
Sound familiar?
So I did what any determined person would doβI hired a macro coach.
I remember the day so clearlyβSeptember 8th. I poured my heart out in this long message, confessing all my food "sins"...
"Look, I never stick with diets past 8 weeks..
I get these intense cravings for sweets...
tell me I 'can't' have something and it's ALL I think about...
oh, and I'm definitely not giving up my margaritas!"
I was so hopeful. This was going to be different!
Finally, someone who would untangle the complexity that I felt around losing weight and making my healthy habits stick. Someone who would help me make it SIMPLE!
But guess what happened instead?
The same old story played out.
Restriction. Obsessive tracking. Weekend "slip-ups" followed by my coach just... cutting my macros even more. For 14 weeks, I tried to force myself into this box that simply wasn't made for me.
You know that moment when you think, "I'm too smart to be this bad at weight loss"? ...
Yeah, I lived there.
So what did I do after firing my coach?
Something crazyβI became obsessed with looking at this problem in a new light.
What if instead of trying to accept that I had to turn my life upside down to get healthy and lose weight, I figured out how to do it WITHOUT giving up my sanity in the process?
I asked myself βIf I kept the same goals, but I refused to let it take over my life anymoreβ¦ what would I do differently?β
Here's where things get interesting...
After becoming certified as both a macro coach AND an integrative health coach, I stumbled into a mentorship with a coach who specialized in mindful eating.
And suddenly, I realized the missing piece.
Iβd been trying to βgritβ my way into habits that created weight loss, thinking more willpower was always the answer.
But when I focused instead on finding the overlap between what I genuinely wanted in life and the food and movement tools could HELP me get there, instead of causing a roadblock to getting there, things started to feel easier.
My weight loss journey stopped being about finding EVERY piece of nutrition advice and assuming I had to make it all fit⦠and instead, I looked at nutrition advice as a menu of options.
I got to choose the strategies that could fit into my life like puzzle pieces, instead of a square peg in a round hole.
Well that shift... it finally made everything click for me.
Want to know what makes my approach so different from anything Iβd tried?
It wasnβt ONLY about what I was eating βit was about rewiring how my brain sees food in the first place, so it wasnβt such a threat all the time.
Seeing my nutrition and habits as a tool for life success, instead of an enemy to my joy, changed the game for me
The truth is, if you're somebody who achieves in other areas of life but struggles with this one piece, you're exactly who I created this for.
Because here's what I discovered on my journey:
