What’s to blame for weight loss feeling SO complicated every time?
DON’T KILL THE MESSENGER…
but it’s your all-or-nothing approach!
When it comes to your nutrition, you value doing what’s PRACTICAL and make decisions that are the “correct” decisions to make ... because you deeply feel that there’s a right way and a wrong way when it comes to eating healthy.
You are someone who is probably deeply admired for being able to so clearly see a black and white answer most of the time (BTW the rest of us are #jealous)
Because while other people may be willing to ignore what their body is telling them… you have a deep instinct about right and wrong.
You NOTICE how decisions feel in your body, and you value going with your instincts, so you can stay focused on living the right way…
Although sometimes this need to “do things the right way” causes you to say no to something that could actually help you make more progress in the long run (like a diet you can actually stick to) - or causes you to reject something that doesn’t have black and white rules (like a diet that allows for life flexibility)
You have a natural ability to GIVE OTHERS A SENSE OF CALM because of your ability to see a clear way of doing things and your willingness to do the right thing
You understand that your natural sense of right and wrong is the most POWERFUL tool in your arsenal
⬆️ This is truly a gift!
That said… because you act with such natural instincts, you often forget to consider your thoughts, your emotions, and your needs before reacting
This leads you to suffocate yourself with rigidity when it comes to making decisions around food - until your constant fight for rightness gets so exhausting… that you actually do the opposite by “letting yourself be free” and descending into indulgence.
How many times have you reached for the ice cream in the freezer and thought to yourself “I deserve this”?
Your fixation on only doing things when they can be done “right” can be your worst enemy, causing you to sabotage your goals, instead of helping you stay the course
Learning to use your desire for perfection as a way to move towards a better life, instead of abandoning the plans when you can’t arrive at 100% perfect, is the very thing you need to get the weight loss you’ve been desperate to achieve.
Let’s break it down…
Your homework to start combating your tendency as an all-or-nothing thinker:
Next time you go out to eat with friends:
notice your instincts to choose something “based on the rules” (or keeping the peace!) and challenge that first thought
Instead of acting fast - pause first (even if it’s uncomfortable!!)...
Consider if that choice will help you keep your momentum with your current health goals - or if going with your gut may have taken you off track
If you thought “I already broke the rules this week, who cares”... what if you cared anyway? What if you could still make the next best choice in this moment?
It’s normal to want to “just go”- instead of taking the time to think, but the more you think about what you really want now, the easier it will be to automate that action in the future, once you prove to yourself that it’s getting you results

Here’s what my clients would tell you:
Hi I'm Coach Julia!!
Ever felt like you're crushing it in every area of your life... except when it comes to food and your body? That was totally me after COVID hit.
There I was in 2020, about 10 pounds heavier after lockdown, freshly single, and desperately wanting to feel good in my jeans again.
I’d been gaining and losing the same 20 lbs since high school, and I was convinced that thin people were either lucky - or led incredibly boring lives and had nothing better to do than meal prep and workout twice a day.
It seemed any diet or program I tried was SO complicated & required that I turn my life upside (and give up basically everything that I enjoyed!
Sound familiar?
So I did what any determined person would do—I hired a macro coach.
I remember the day so clearly—September 8th. I poured my heart out in this long message, confessing all my food "sins"...
"Look, I never stick with diets past 8 weeks..
I get these intense cravings for sweets...
tell me I 'can't' have something and it's ALL I think about...
oh, and I'm definitely not giving up my margaritas!"
I was so hopeful. This was going to be different!
Finally, someone who would untangle the complexity that I felt around losing weight and making my healthy habits stick. Someone who would help me make it SIMPLE!
But guess what happened instead?
The same old story played out.
Restriction. Obsessive tracking. Weekend "slip-ups" followed by my coach just... cutting my macros even more. For 14 weeks, I tried to force myself into this box that simply wasn't made for me.
You know that moment when you think, "I'm too smart to be this bad at weight loss"? ...
Yeah, I lived there.
So what did I do after firing my coach?
Something crazy—I became obsessed with looking at this problem in a new light.
What if instead of trying to accept that I had to turn my life upside down to get healthy and lose weight, I figured out how to do it WITHOUT giving up my sanity in the process?
I asked myself “If I kept the same goals, but I refused to let it take over my life anymore… what would I do differently?”
Here's where things get interesting...
After becoming certified as both a macro coach AND an integrative health coach, I stumbled into a mentorship with a coach who specialized in mindful eating.
And suddenly, I realized the missing piece.
I’d been trying to “grit” my way into habits that created weight loss, thinking more willpower was always the answer.
But when I focused instead on finding the overlap between what I genuinely wanted in life and the food and movement tools could HELP me get there, instead of causing a roadblock to getting there, things started to feel easier.
My weight loss journey stopped being about finding EVERY piece of nutrition advice and assuming I had to make it all fit… and instead, I looked at nutrition advice as a menu of options.
I got to choose the strategies that could fit into my life like puzzle pieces, instead of a square peg in a round hole.
Well that shift... it finally made everything click for me.
Want to know what makes my approach so different from anything I’d tried?
It wasn’t ONLY about what I was eating —it was about rewiring how my brain sees food in the first place, so it wasn’t such a threat all the time.
Seeing my nutrition and habits as a tool for life success, instead of an enemy to my joy, changed the game for me
The truth is, if you're somebody who achieves in other areas of life but struggles with this one piece, you're exactly who I created this for.
Because here's what I discovered on my journey:
