What’s to blame for weight loss feeling SO complicated every time?
DON’T KILL THE MESSENGER…
but it’s your busy brain!
When it comes to your health, you value LOGIC and make decisions that feel like they’re based on research or evidence, because you want to be SO SURE that something is the “best” way to do it before you even begin.
With a busy brain, you are a walking encyclopedia when it comes to new diet trends and why a Hydro Jug is better than a Stanley water bottle (BTW the rest of us are #jealous)
Other people may be willing to try just anything on a whim - but not you, you do your homework first.
You spend time UNDERSTANDING why something is a good idea before you jump on board… although sometimes you spend so much time digging into something being a good idea that you never start all together (or you start something new before you finished the last “diet adventure”).
You have a natural ability to DIG INTO THE REASON WHY a new healthy habit makes sense and you can talk yourself into it with this new information
You understand that your mind is the most POWERFUL tool in your arsenal
⬆️ This is truly a gift!
But here’s where it gets complicated… because you are obsessed with always finding new information, you are a whiz at talking yourself OUT of something, too.
Your mind helps you find excuses and very legitimate reasons for not following through on the path that you once felt so convicted in.
... Not to mention, you probably have 1,001 recipes saved on IG and you’ve never actually made a single one
Your own mind can be your worst enemy by creating more complexity, instead of helping you stay the course.
Learning to use your negotiating skills for good, instead of letting them run the show whenever you want to escape something uncomfortable... is the very thing you need to get the weight loss you’ve been desperate to achieve.
Let’s break it down…
Your homework to start combating your busy brain:
Next time you’re going out to eat:
I want you to open the menu and decide what to get as quickly as possible based on your current nutrition goals.
Commit to it without changing your mind.
How does it feel to practice not looking for new information to counter what you’ve already committed to?
Remind yourself - “I have all the information I need to make a good choice for me. I can’t see progress if I’m always second guessing my current approach”
If you want to take this a step further, before you get to the restaurant…
You can do this exercise:
Ask yourself the worst case scenario and the best case scenario based on that quick choice!
For example:
The best case could be: It tastes as good as I hoped and it keeps me full for hours
The worst case could be: I see what someone else ordered and I regret my decision but I learn something in the process (doesn’t seem so bad after all, does it?)
Send me a DM if you try it & let me know how it goes!

Here’s what my clients would tell you:
Hi I'm Coach Julia!!
Ever felt like you're crushing it in every area of your life... except when it comes to food and your body? That was totally me after COVID hit.
There I was in 2020, about 10 pounds heavier after lockdown, freshly single, and desperately wanting to feel good in my jeans again.
I’d been gaining and losing the same 20 lbs since high school, and I was convinced that thin people were either lucky - or led incredibly boring lives and had nothing better to do than meal prep and workout twice a day.
It seemed any diet or program I tried was SO complicated & required that I turn my life upside (and give up basically everything that I enjoyed!
Sound familiar?
So I did what any determined person would do—I hired a macro coach.
I remember the day so clearly—September 8th. I poured my heart out in this long message, confessing all my food "sins"...
"Look, I never stick with diets past 8 weeks..
I get these intense cravings for sweets...
tell me I 'can't' have something and it's ALL I think about...
oh, and I'm definitely not giving up my margaritas!"
I was so hopeful. This was going to be different!
Finally, someone who would untangle the complexity that I felt around losing weight and making my healthy habits stick. Someone who would help me make it SIMPLE!
But guess what happened instead?
The same old story played out.
Restriction. Obsessive tracking. Weekend "slip-ups" followed by my coach just... cutting my macros even more. For 14 weeks, I tried to force myself into this box that simply wasn't made for me.
You know that moment when you think, "I'm too smart to be this bad at weight loss"? ...
Yeah, I lived there.
So what did I do after firing my coach?
Something crazy—I became obsessed with looking at this problem in a new light.
What if instead of trying to accept that I had to turn my life upside down to get healthy and lose weight, I figured out how to do it WITHOUT giving up my sanity in the process?
I asked myself “If I kept the same goals, but I refused to let it take over my life anymore… what would I do differently?”
Here's where things get interesting...
After becoming certified as both a macro coach AND an integrative health coach, I stumbled into a mentorship with a coach who specialized in mindful eating.
And suddenly, I realized the missing piece.
I’d been trying to “grit” my way into habits that created weight loss, thinking more willpower was always the answer.
But when I focused instead on finding the overlap between what I genuinely wanted in life and the food and movement tools could HELP me get there, instead of causing a roadblock to getting there, things started to feel easier.
My weight loss journey stopped being about finding EVERY piece of nutrition advice and assuming I had to make it all fit… and instead, I looked at nutrition advice as a menu of options.
I got to choose the strategies that could fit into my life like puzzle pieces, instead of a square peg in a round hole.
Well that shift... it finally made everything click for me.
Want to know what makes my approach so different from anything I’d tried?
It wasn’t ONLY about what I was eating —it was about rewiring how my brain sees food in the first place, so it wasn’t such a threat all the time.
Seeing my nutrition and habits as a tool for life success, instead of an enemy to my joy, changed the game for me
The truth is, if you're somebody who achieves in other areas of life but struggles with this one piece, you're exactly who I created this for.
Because here's what I discovered on my journey:
